This was the 1st finished song for my solo project. It was inspired by something I read that my friend Mary wrote on Facebook in 2013. Originally I thought it was a butterfly that hit her windshield, but it was a lightning bug (firefly). Just her one sentence made me think... hey, that could be a song lyric. I'm not going to try to explain what all the lyrics mean... or the song as a whole... because people can put their own meaning to this. Even sometimes I totally don't know what a song means that I've written until years later. Also... in a way... it's like Bridge Over Troubled Waters and Riders On The Storm, where the lyrics go in a different direction verse to verse. Anyway... if you like, you can let me know what you think of it on my Facebook group page, Dennis Preston Music... please keep the language clean.
PUT THE HEADPHONES ON... some nice stereo stuff is going on.

lyrics
My mind was set on travel mode / That rainy night on the glistening road / Just sitting back, enjoying the ride / When suddenly, our worlds collide
Chorus:
I'm sorry I didn't see you / I've always thought you were beautiful / I didn't mean for it to end this way / And watch your aura melt away
I'd take it back if I could / Avoid the bad and keep all the good / The world has a way of switching rules / Throw down the kings, lift up the fools
